Owyhee Irrigation District (OID) has supplied irrigation water to lands in Malheur County including Adrian, Nyssa, and Ontario, Oregon since 1932. The district was formed to supply agricultural water to the entire Owyhee Project and today remains the largest irrigation district in Eastern Oregon.

Building Maintenance
The Description
The Building Maintenance position will work under the direction of the Foreman in conjunction with office staff; operating tools & knowledge of plumbing, construction, & minor electrical work to maintain, repair, & improve District’s buildings, out building, exterior areas & other District infrastructure as needed &/or assigned by Supervisor. Duties require physical strength in both upper & lower body, repetitive motion activities, & working in tight spaces.
Essential Functions
Responsibilities & working conditions, in no particular order, include, but are not limited to:
- Working inside & outside
- Work could be in inclement weather, including exposure to the sun in 100+-degree weather and below-freezing temperatures.
- Frequent repetitive movements, especially with hands, fingers, and wrists, to grasp, turn, and use tools.
- Regular bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- This position may require crawling over, under, and into small spaces.
- Often carry and use equipment and supplies weighing 50 lbs. or more.
- This position also involves periodic meetings and trainings.
- Grounds/Exterior
- Plumbing
- Constriction
- Minor Electrical work
- Structure & Building repairs & painting.
- Use of many hand tools, such as drills, hammers, hammer drills, jack hammers, pry bars, and may other miscellaneous tools to repair structures
- Ordering supplies, handling records and scheduling maintenance
- Special miscellaneous projects
Qualifications
- Work independently with little to no supervision.
- Organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Understand, use, and communicate technical information.
- Interpret and apply services and repairs.
- Construction skills such as carpentry, painting, masonry, plumbing, roofing and welding
- Physical strength and dexterity to lift, move and handle equipment
- Stamina to deal with long hours standing or walking
- Must be eighteen (18) years of age.
- A valid Driver's License is required.
