Owyhee Irrigation District (OID) has supplied irrigation water to lands in Malheur County including Adrian, Nyssa, and Ontario, Oregon since 1932. The district was formed to supply agricultural water to the entire Owyhee Project and today remains the largest irrigation district in Eastern Oregon.

Seasonal Pumping Plant Attendant

The Description  

The Pumping Plant Attendant position will work under the direction of the Pump Supervisor performing regular janitorial duties, paperwork & other basic tasks assigned.  Duties require the ability to carry, push, pull & use equipment/supplies up to 50lbs, the ability to stand &/or sit for extended periods of time & navigate on uneven terrain including stairs/ladders..

Essential Functions

 Responsibilities & working conditions, in no particular order, include, but are not limited to:

  • Working inside & outside
  • Carry, push, pull, and use equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs.
  • Work could be in inclement weather, including exposure to the sun in 100+-degree weather.
  • Frequent repetitive movements, especially with hands, fingers, and wrists, to grasp, turn, and use tools.
  • Regular bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Stand/sit for extended periods and walking on possibly sloped, uneven terrain.
  • Climbing ladders or stairs
  •  Performing preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment.
  • Accomplishing regular janitorial duties to facilities.
  • Completing daily paperwork.
  • Upkeep the grounds surrounding the plants.
  • Use of a shovel: dirt work
  • Special miscellaneous projects

Qualifications

  • Work independently with little to no supervision.
  • Reliable & responsible, will arrive on time & when scheduled.
  • Capable & willing to complete assigned job tasks.
  • Must be sixteen (16) years of age.
  • Reliable Transportation is required.
